Appleseed Cast Low Level Owl 1

This foursome out of Lawrence, Kansas does to music what poetry does to literature. Having been able to gradually mature their sound in studio on some ealier albums like "The End of The Ring Wars" (1998) and "Mare Vitalis" (2000) the band seems to have reached epic hights with this oeuvre that in its full version will consist of 2 volumes, offering nearly 2 hours of listening pleasure. The second volume will be released at the end of the year. The first 14 songs that are orchestrated on this disk are warm, sensitive tunes that seem to flow through one into the other to result in one big parable. These guys must have spent numerous days in studio with producer Ed Rose, experimenting with electronics, samples and loops. And the main accomplishment is the fact that they managed to fit these pieces together to result in songs that build an atmosphere that make you wish you were in heaven already. This is only for the most bittersweet amongst you, I don't expect hardcore lovers to appreciate the echoeing voices and slow build-ups. But isn't there a trace of romantics in all of us? Anyway, if you want to relax to a sound that is both innovative and mind-distracting this could be one for you. I personally will use this thing as a background sound as I must confess my music brains require something else. But it sure is art.

The first time I listened to this CD, I had my good headphones on, in the dark, in bed. It was quite an experience. This music is so, different. To me, I have images of life going through my head from the music. It's almost like it creates a movie in your head, and it's the perfectly fitting soundtrack. I don't care what music you listen to, this is a good cd for anyone to have, because it's the deepest most relaxing music I've heard so far. Dreamy.
