American Heritage Bipolar Escape Artists
From their instru-metal, math-rock roots to a vocalized, hard-hitting rock beast, Chicago's AMERICAN HERITAGE deliver a heavy-weight amalgam of technical prowess and focused power on their Escape Artist debut. BIPOLAR eschews the gloss and glamour of today's hardcore/metal model, opting for a gritty, street-level dirge, intensifying their turbulent and primal approach. AMERICAN HERITAGE skillfully assemble complex songs and angular arrangements without sacrificing the nuances and rhythmic qualities they have come to be known for. Bipolar collects unreleased and new material spanning several recordings by past and present incarnations, and solidifies AMERICAN HERITAGE as one of the premier instrumental indie/math rock bands in the US. Purity's Failure Extensions (cdep) Goodfellow
Purity's Failure is a four-piece rock band from Boston Massachusetts. They formed in 1994 and have retained their original lineup to this day. In the spring of 2003 purity's failure entered New Alliance Studio in Boston to begin recording a new EP with Andrew Schneider. The sessions were some of the greatest experiences the band has ever enjoyed. The understanding and enthusiasm of Andrew Schneider helped to realize the potential of the new songs, and the resulting recording is without question the band's greatest achievement to this point.

Ammi Laodicea (cdep) Common Cloud
Balancing between the beauty of life and the struggles that plague it, Ammi makes a soundtrack for the everyman (and everywoman). After self-releasing The Hymnal EP in 2003, Ammi have taken their new record, "Laodicea" and joined the family at Common Cloud Records.

Turpentine Brothers We Don't Care About Your Good Times Alive - Total Energy
Boston garage/punk/dirtbag R&B dynamos the TURPENTINE BROTHERS have finally recorded their debut album, a high energy 12 songster seemingly equally inspired by the OBLIVIANS' gospel album, thrift store 45's bearing the Fortune, Stax, and Etiquette imprints, and the fractured guitar freakouts of their longtime faves the CHEATER SLICKS.

Summer's End S/T Hand Of Hope
Washington D.C.'s Summer's End have signed to hand of hope records. Rising from the ashes of previous bands, Abysmal Gates and Blood Runs Cold, guitarist John Letzkus and vocalist Josh Hansen had failed at the attempt of finding band members in New Jersey. Shortly after John moved back to Maryland to find members to fill the remaining positions of the band in the late fall. John then called friend/ex-bandmate Dave Eaton from previous band Burned To Ashes. Then the hunt was on to find a rhythm guitarist and bassist who fit the needed requirements. Soon after, rhythm guitarist Paul Macatee was discovered. The band begun to start writing material for a demo they planned on recording late winter. Soon after the recording was complete, bassist/friend Buckey came in for a temporary fill in for upcoming shows and after the first performance witnessed by the band they realized that it would be a mistake to let him go. The completed band line up had opened more things for the band such as touring, and having shared the staged with some bands such as, Gotham Road, As I Lay Dying, Chimaira, Haste, Caliban, Sworn Enemy, Anthrax, Tubring, Shadows Fall, and Integrity. The band is prepared for anything, and has the drive to show the fans of all genres of music what its truly about.

Bellrays, The The Red, White and Black Alternative Tentacles
Alternative Tentacles Records is proud to present the fourth full-length explosion from soul-garage mainstays The Bellrays. The whole punk and soul craze started here. From the moment they burst onto the international stage, the reaction has been "WOW!" Among the early converts were Jello Biafra, who came away from his first dose raving, "At last! Picture Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin fronting a garage band. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time!" At once sexy and intelligent, passionate and stark, The Bellrays are like a kick in the balls from James Brown: we like to call their music "Maximum Rock & Soul." They splice together the Rock (yep, with a capital R) of MC5, The Stooges, and The Who with the groove of Parliament, James Brown, and Miles Davis. The Bellrays belt out visceral music that emanates straight from the heart. Lead singer Lisa Kekaula's soulfully electric vocals perfect the gritty bluesmeets-garage instrumentation, upping the emotional power to overdrive. This is the domestic release of their now-out-of-print 4th cd from last year!

You Will Die S/T Hawthorne Street
Formed in the Summer of 2000, YOU WILL DIE consists of three members each bring a unique musical background to the table. Scoth (known for drumming for such well respected Indianapolis bands as ICE NINE, BLATHERSKITE, and currently punk outfit PIZZLE) has been lauded numerous times for his talent as a drummer and this shines through in YOU WILL DIE. Also known for his drumming abilities (with Indianapolis rockers MARMOSET and THE GREAT BIG HUGE), Jason instead mans the bass guitar for YOU WILL DIE, pouring his multi-instrument abilities into the band's rhythm section. YOU WILL DIE's guitarist, Errol, has been abusing his guitar for years (with numerous hardcore/punk groups including NO OUTLET and D.V.) and serves as the perfect touch in this trio's instrumental sound. Together, the three create original music drawing from metal, doom, grind, hard rock, and even blues. Utilizing off time signatures and graceful yet quirky transitions, YOU WILL DIE pull off creating an instrumental sound that never seems boring or self indulgent. Looking to the future and having built a strong local hype around their innovative sound, YOU WILL DIE knew the time to record their debut was coming. Teaming up with fellow Hoosiers Hawthorne Street Records, the band will be recording and releasing their debut full length early 2005.

Morning Recordings Music For Places Better Looking
Chicago's Morning Recordings have signed a deal with Better Looking Records. If you were familiar with the band Melochrome, then this is certainly up your alley. BLR and Loose Thread Recordings will joint release the debut album from Morning Recordings in early 2005. "Music For Places" is the debut album by Morning Recordings, a new project headed by Melochrome's Pramod Tummala. In 2003, Pramod began recording tracks in Chicago's NorthBranch Studio and sessions found the multi-instrumentalist collaborating with members of Lambchop, The Coctails, L'altra, and Zelienople. Morning Recordings debut album is breezy intimate songwriting warmed up with vibes, keys, horns, and cello that would share a similar tone to a Nick Drake record if it were produced by Brian Eno and had Shuggie Otis and members of The Velvet Underground as his backing musicians.

Beowulf Beowulf & Lost My Head (re-issues) I Scream
Venice, California-based thrashers Beowulf (not to be confused with the earlier, L.A.-based hard rockers by the same name) formed in 1984 and featured singer/guitarist Dale Henderson, guitarist Mike Jensen, bassist Paul Yemada, and drummer Michael Alvarado. Friendly from the start with local legends Suicidal Tendencies, the quartet contributed two tracks to 1985's Suicidal Records' compilation Welcome to Venice, and then quickly recorded and released their self-titled debut a year later. This was followed by 1988's Lost My Head...But I'm Back on the Right Track L.P., which was issued through Caroline Records and featured a thrashy version of Smokey Robinson's "Cruising." Sadly, none of the above could help distinguish Beowulf from the era's teeming thrash metal throngs, and the group decided to split up a short time later.

Shai Hulud A Comprehensive Retrospective Revelation
Shai Hulud has become one of the more influential bands in hardcore. This is partly due to them surviving longer and through more line-up changes than most bands and still managing to put out great music in each incarnation. A Comprehensive Retrospective is a collection of the early recordings made by the band (hence the subtitle "Or: How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Release Bad and Useless Recordings"). It includes their first demo with original singer Damien Moyal (As Friends Rust, Culture, Morning Again), scratch guitar tracks, warehouse recordings, a live session at NYU, Chad Gilbert's first demo with the band (vocalist for Shai Hulud's release Hearts Once Nourished with Hope and Compassion. The #12 Looks Like You An Inch of Gold For An Inch of Time (cdep) Eyeball
Expect a CDEP from this Bergen County, NJ band in January on Eyeball Records. The Number Twelve is made up of an eclectic collection of musicians that all add a certain "flavor" when making up the compositions of a sound that cannot be pigeonholed into one genre. Since the formation of the band they have recorded songs, traveled the country in a beat up van playing these songs, and made a ton of merch for themselves. This cycle continued for around two years until the people at Eyeball Records decided they would give this raggedy group of gents a shot. The Number Twelve now plans to work on new full-length due out on Eyeball in 2005, and to tour so much that people get so sick of seeing them that they violently vomit.

The Black Maria proves their versatility on the album, with delicate piano, harmonized vocals framing some of the harshest narrative on ìThe Lines We Crossî. ìBetrayalî comes up swinging, with anthemic choruses and tough guitar hooks offset by a dark, foreboding rhythm section and a tremolo-packed layer of guitar noise adding depth. ìThe Mementoî enters on an eerie note, with a wavering organ that drops abruptly into space, supplanted by aggressive guitars, a wicked bass line and truly bitter lyrics.

On this record, seven of his songs are deconstructed and reinterpreted by a cast of luminaries. Instead they combine the power and passion of early Fugazi with a metallic wall of sound reminiscent of the like of Shellac and the Jesus Lizard. The three tracks here are just a taste of the greatness to come. Finally THE COALFIELD from Germany contribute 3 tracks of their trademark powerful anthemic post hardcore which has seen them release an awesome album on Defiance records and tour the UK with the likes of Million Dead and Murder of Rosa Luxemburg.

Sea Of Thousand The Church of Total Collapse State Of Mind
Like a phoenix Sea of Thousand rose up from the ashes of Austin's Employer, Employee. With Joey and Craig from EE on guitar and vocals, and Keith on drums, Sea of Thousand took form. The permanent lineup was eventually realized with the addition of Derek on bass and Tommy from Dragbody on guitar. This is a 7 song CD. You can check their myspace page here

Entreat Deincubation Moonlee
ENTREAT. are from Slovenia. That for itself doesn't say much, but if you are familiar with other bands from that country you will agree that they all feature a certain melancholic turbulence in their music. Clean tone guitars have mixed up many music definitions and the way ENTREAT. play their guitars labeled them emo-metal. However, their roots lie somewhere else: in the North, deep in Swedish hardcore and metal. Now, finally out, from the infamous Alpha Omega studio, released by Moonlee Records, comes Deincubation, their second album, named after the very process through which it came into existence. ENTREAT. presents perceptions gathered in the past and marks new directions. They point the way they are going, taking their music with them.

Deadman Walking Can't Stop the Dying Geykido Comet
This should be out in Spring 2005. Deadman Walking is the brainchild of longtime friends Riche Kontrol and Paul Geroso. Both musicians had come from the band A-o.k., which had broken up in 1998. Taking what they had learned from their previous experiences, along with Norman they forged a sound of heavy rock and aggressive lyrics that were deeply rooted in rock and roll, punk, and metal music, but at the same time created a new and infectious energy. Deadman Walking unveil their own style of dark rock n roll on their upcoming debut full length for GC. The speed of skate punk melted into the darkness of early 80s rock. Not to mention the lead singer is also the drummer!
